CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – First District Congressional Candidate Thomas Heckroth returns to Clayton County when his campaign stops in Strawberry Point on Tuesday, May 22 for a meet and greet with local volunteers and Democratic activists. This event is open to the press and public and is hosted by Strawberry Point supporter, Linzy Martin.
Heckroth is a native of Waverly, Iowa, and previously worked on behalf of Iowans in Senator Tom Harkin’s office and in the Department of Labor during the Obama administration. Most recently, he worked in the private sector to uphold labor and environmental standards and show that corporate profits don’t have to come at the expense of people or the environment.
“I learned from an early age the importance of our shared values as Iowans: compassion, conviction, community, and citizenship. As Iowans, we expect to be treated equally, dealt with honestly, and given a fair shot at success. Instead, Washington politicians and special interests are rewriting the rules to put billionaires and corporations ahead of hardworking women and men,” said Thomas Heckroth. “My experiences working for Iowans and Americans have made one thing clear: Iowans are working harder but still not getting ahead. I’m running because it’s time to rebuild a secure middle class, lead with our values, and own our future.”
