IDP Chair speaks on DACA
![]() Joleen, The American Dream; the idea that anyone, no matter where they are born or how much money they have, can succeed in America. Donald Trump, with the support of Governor Reynolds, wants to put an asterisk on that idea. Trump just announced that he wants to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or DACA program that protects thousands of Iowans who were brought to America as children. Rescinding DACA will cost the Iowa economy upwards of $188 million, but that didn’t stop Kim Reynolds from coming out in full support of Donald Trump’s ridiculous plan. These children did nothing wrong. They grew up here, they are part of our communities, and many of them are growing businesses here, making our state stronger and more competitive.
Now, Kim Reynolds and Donald Trump want to kick them out because turning people against immigrants is easier than actually leading our state and our country. Make no mistake, this is not just an attack on immigrant communities, it’s an attack on the idea of the American Dream itself. Enough is enough. Kim Reynolds and Donald Trump are willing to abandon core American values to score political points. They must be stopped, and it starts right here, right now with you and me defending the American Dream together. – Troy |
