The race for Iowa State House District 55 representation remains separated by 9 votes with 29 uncounted ballots. Representative Mike Bergan holds the slim lead over Democrat, Kayla Koether. In November, an Iowa judge ruled for the 29 uncounted ballots to be preserved. The 29 ballots were put into the US postal system prior to the deadline. The election was certified and yet these 29 ballots have not been counted.
Kayla Koether has properly filed the paperwork contesting the election results, and petitioned to have the 29 votes counted. The decision now moves to the floor of the Iowa House of Representatives.
